Safety, transparency and trust are essential for the success of The Freedom Plan philosophy as a whole. Therefore methods such as verifying ones identity help others in the community to trust you and provide some level of evidence that you are who you say you are. Becoming verified is optional but highly recommended.
What do I need to know?
Before you apply to have your profile verified, you need to make sure that all your profile fields have been completed and you have a profile photo (of your face only) uploaded which accurately and clearly represents what you look like now. The verification process currently looks at one variable to validate who you are:
On this page and you will be presented with a Unique Verification Code (UVC). Write that code clearly on a piece of paper and take a photo of yourself holding the written code underneath your chin, so your face and the UVC are clearly visible and legible. Once submitted and approved, you will be verified, your profile will be updated and you’ll receive a notification to let you know. If for any reason you are not approved, you will be told why your verification did not pass. Usually it will be due to illegible writing, an incorrect code or an old profile picture which doesn’t look similar enough to your current appearance.
Your verification photo will be securely stored as a record of your verification, however it will not be visible to anyone on the platform. This process usually only takes a few hours however in times of peak demand it may take up to a week.
Are members with verified profiles more trustworthy?
In short…yes. However, regardless of the precautions taken, there will always be ways to get around them. This verification method however will help to “weed out” the majority of those who have bad intentions. A verified profile means that in all likelihood this person is who they say they are. It’s recommended however that you combine a profiles verification status with other factors such as your online conversations with them and documents they may have uploaded (if any) to the “Trust & Transparency” tab in their profile. Ultimately try and meet people in the safety and comfort of community events such as the Freedom Plan Markets, Freedom Plan Abundance events and during community projects with other members.
